The Takfiri Daesh militant group has reportedly arrested tens of its own members in Iraq’s conflict-ridden western province of Anbar over attempts to stage a coup against their leaders.

An informed source, requesting not to be named, said Daesh terrorists detained 60 fellow extremists in the city of Fallujah, located roughly 69 kilometers (43 mi) west of the capital, Baghdad, on the grounds that they had planned to rise up in rebellion against their militant commanders, Arabic-language al-Forat news agency reported.

The source added that rifts are widening among the various ranks of the Daesh militant group, and its policies have resulted in the death or defection of many of its members.

On August 31, the spokesman for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Mosul, Saeed Mamouzini, told Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite television network that Daesh executed 112 of its own members in the city, located some 400 kilometers (248 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, accusing them of seeking to stage a rebellion against the militant group’s leader, Ibrahim al-Samarrai aka Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The slain terrorists had allegedly planned to kill the self-proclaimed Mosul governor, Abu Abdul Majid Afar, overrun Nineveh Province, break from Daesh, and declare war on the terrorists.

Daesh executes three members in Fallujah

Meanwhile, Daesh members have killed three fellow extremists in Fallujah over the accusation that they had refused to murder local residents critical of the group’s ideology.

The commander of the First Regiment of Popular Mobilization Units, Colonel Juma al-Jumaili, said Daesh is terrified of a public uprising against its rule in the embattled western Iraqi city, and has lately killed 20 of its members after accusing them of collaboration with Iraqi security personnel and army.

Iraqi air force kills 16 Daesh Takfiris in Anbar

Moreover, a total of 16 Daesh extremists were killed when Iraqi military aircraft carried out precision strikes against terrorist hideouts in Albu Shajal and al-Malahama districts, which lie east of Anbar’s provincial capital city of Ramadi.

Gruesome violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since ISIL Takfiris launched an offensive in June 2014, and took control of portions of Iraqi territory.

The militants have been committing vicious crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and others.

Army soldiers and volunteer fighters are seeking to win back militant-held regions in joint operations.
