US, Israel seeking to destroy success of Iran revolution: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Mark Glenn, a political commentator from Idaho, to ask for his insight into the existing rift between the US and Israel on the conclusion of talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: How much can Obama balance between the Iran deal and Israeli interests? Can he have both at the same time?

Glenn: The Iran deal is in Israel’s interest. Just because Obama and Netanyahu may be involved in this what Obama, I think, accurately referred to as a family feud, this does not mean that Obama is not working in Israel’s interest on this. Netanyahu and Obama simply have different paths for achieving the same thing, which is the destruction of Iran’s revolution of 1979. Netanyahu would like to see this done in the same way that Iraq was destroyed, fire and brimstone and very dramatic lots of death, whereas Obama and more importantly pro-Israel interest, who got him elected twice for presidency and who are firmly in support of him today would like to see Iran’s revolution erased in a different manner, meaning why the same type of monetary and a cultural sabotage that has destroyed the West. And the Supreme Leader, by the way, refers this recently in a speech that he gave, where he said that one of the big hidden dangers to this nuclear agreement was that America and the West were going to try to worm their way into Iran’s financial and cultural nerve center and try to rearrange things in such ways to destroy what Iran achieved in 1979. So, there is no difference between what both sides want in this case rather how they each would like to see it come about.

Press TV: Well, of course how likely will the Iran deal make it through Congress? And what if it fails?

Glenn: Well, I’ll be frank in saying that I think the deal in and of itself is a very bad thing. I understand and it’s easy for me to say being an American here, where I don’t have the deal with the kinds of sanctions and the social pressures that exist in Iran as a result of these sanctions. But at the end of the day, I do not trust my country to do the right thing. I know that might... there’s been a revolution in my country they’re not approaching this thing in ... of fairness and honesty. This is being done to destroy Iran’s revolution of 1979. And so, at the end of the day, whether Congress agrees to this agreement with Iran or shoots it down, I think that there are very dangerous waters that are coming down the river for Iran either way it goes. It’s just a matter whether these dangerous rivers come smashing into Iran’s system sooner or rather than later.
