Press TV has interviewed Sukant Chandan, a filmmaker and political commentator from London, and Richard Weitz, an expert with the Wikistrat’s Analytic Community, to discuss the anniversary of a humiliating defeat for Israel in its war against Lebanon in 2006.

Chandan thinks Hezbollah’s 2006 victory over Israel has prompted NATO powers and their regional allies to take revenge. He describes the wars against Libya and Syria as “strategic revenge” operations in response to the Lebanese resistance movement’s triumph in the Israeli war.

Pointing to the role of the Israeli regime in supporting terrorist groups, the political expert says the Zionist entity bombed Syria several times over the last three years, but they have not targeted any terror group in the war-torn country.

“The so-called Israel is still a very provocative and aggressive entity in the region and still remains an imperialist dagger pointed at the heart of Arab nations and the people of the Middle East,” Chandan argues, adding that people of the region feel they need to continue resistance against the aggressive force.

For his part, Weitz believes Hezbollah’s victory in the 33-day war was thought to have major impact on regional dynamics, but its has been overshadowed by other developments such as the violence in Syria and Iraq.
