Iran’s textile industry has greatly suffered during the past few years because of the huge amount of both legal and illegal import of cloths and international fashion brands.

Iranians have also turned away from domestic products because of a lack of confidence in their quality. The textile industry is very important as it brings the government a huge amount of revenue and creates thousands of new job opportunities.

Foreign fashion wears, however, are sometimes frowned upon in the Iranian society as people see them as cultural plots hatched against the Islamic establishment.

In this edition of Iran Today, we go to the Fourth International Fajr Festival of Fashion and Costume, which was held on March 3 in Tehran.
