Venezuelan opposition stages rally against new government motion

The Venezuelan opposition groups stage a rally to protest against the government as they accuse security forces of committing criminal violation of human rights against opposition activists during recent demonstrations.

The opposition claims that the government's resolution number 8610 authorizes security forces to shoot at opposition demonstrators. They say such resolution must be annulled or else innocent protesters will be killed.

However officials say most gunfire has actually come from opposition protesters during violent clashes, so opposition leaders distort the content of the resolution.

While Maria Corina Machado and other opposition leaders slam the government for allegedly undermining human rights, revolutionaries claim such allegations are unfounded and aimed at gaining political advantage in this electoral year.

Despite the Venezuelan opposition claims that human rights laws are being violated by the government, authorities say all accusations will always be investigated by the Venezuelan justice. Government says the National Constitution guarantees protection and equal treatment to all citizens without discrimination of any kind.
