Kaitlin Hamade Hammoud is an American-Lebanese journalist and educator deeply committed to politics and social justice, shaped by her unique experiences in Lebanon. After spending her early childhood in California, Kaitlin moved to Lebanon in 2000 to connect with her father's family during a pivotal moment in the country’s history—the end of the 18-year Israeli occupation, significantly influenced by the resistance led by Hezbollah. This transition immersed her in a new culture and language, presenting both challenges and opportunities as she adapted to life in a nation undergoing reconstruction.
In 2006, Kaitlin witnessed the war waged by Israel before returning to the United States, where she became acutely aware of the repercussions of 9/11 and the rise of Islamophobia within her community. As a teenager, she returned to Lebanon, discovering the resilience and vibrancy of its people, who navigate daily challenges with remarkable determination.
While pursuing her studies in Translation, Kaitlin was recruited to help launch a new English-language pro-resistance channel, where she met her husband, who played a signifact role in guiding and supporting her while deepening her understanding of political dynamics. Over four years at the channel, she honed her skills as an editor, news anchor, and program presenter until funding constraints led to its closure. This experience fueled her determination to seek the truth, as she recognized that the world she once knew was not as it appeared.
Kaitlin later transitioned to academia, serving as a university instructor for eight years before joining Press TV as the host of “Israel Watch.” However, when intense bombings resumed across southern Lebanon and her home was damaged, she was compelled to relocate with her family and three young children. Undeterred by these challenges, she adapted her program to “From Beirut,” broadcasting from a cliff overlooking the Southern Suburbs of Beirut amidst the chaos. After enduring a month and a half of Israel's brutal aggressions against Lebanon, supported immensely by her family, she relocated to Tehran, where she resumed her role as a news anchor at Press TV’s headquarters.
Guided by the belief that “everything happens for a reason,” Kaitlin is dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and shedding light on their struggles for freedom and justice.
