US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
It’s been another deadly day for Palestinians in Gaza as the Israeli military presses ahead with its aggression against the besieged territory. In one of the deadliest strikes, 30 people were killed and some 200 others injured after Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians seeking aid near a distribution center in Rafah, southern Gaza. In Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, several people were killed when Israeli warplanes bombed a gas station there. A separate attack in the same area claimed several more lives. Israeli forces also shelled multiple neighborhoods across Gaza, including Rimal, Sheikh Radwan, and al-Tuffah, killing and wounding several Palestinians. According to Gaza health officials, at least 60 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since dawn on Saturday. The ongoing Israeli onslaught, which began in October 2023, has so far killed more than 57,800 Palestinians. Nearly 138,000 others have been injured.
Israel stalling ceasefire talks
Palestinian sources say Israel’s refusal to fully withdraw troops from Gaza is holding back progress in indirect talks with the resistance movement Hamas. Sources close to the talks say the Israeli delegation presented a "withdrawal map" that, in reality, outlines redeployment and repositioning of its forces. They said Hamas has rejected the plan, as it essentially legitimizes the reoccupation of approximately half of the Gaza Strip, turning it into isolated zones. They added that the Israeli delegation lacks sufficient authority and is stalling negotiations to prolong the campaign of extermination in Gaza. The latest round of ceasefire talks between both parties began in Qatar last Sunday. The talks are facilitated by Qatar's Prime Minister and senior Egyptian intelligence officials, with the involvement of US envoy Brett McGurk.
Iran strike on US air base
The US Department of Defense has confirmed that Iran’s strike on its al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar hit a key communications facility. The Pentagon’s spokesperson acknowledged that an Iranian ballistic missile destroyed a geodesic dome, housing a 15-million-dollar communications terminal used by the US military. The structure contained critical satellite equipment vital for maintaining communications between deployed personnel and US military leadership worldwide. Satellite imagery shows the dome intact on the 23rd of June, hours before the attack, and completely gone on June 25. The strike came in retaliation to US bombings of 3 nuclear sites in Iran. US President Donald Trump had claimed Tehran’s retaliation was ineffective.
