Attack on Gaza aid-seekers

The UN human rights office says at least 800 people have been killed while receiving aid in the Gaza Strip. Israeli media say the killings are deliberate and ordered by senior regime commanders.

Slamming Trump’s tariff policy

The Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman has slammed the United States' tariff policy, saying that tariffs should not be used for bullying. Since taking office, US President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on dozens of countries, with China facing the highest rates. China’s criticism comes in reaction to Trump’s latest plans to impose blanket tariffs of up to 20 percent on most trading partners. This week, Trump also publicized letters to 22 countries establishing new tariff rates. The latest levies hit Canada with a 35 percent rate and Brazil with a 50 percent one. Reacting to Trump’s tariff war, many countries have promised to respond to it in kind.

Srebrenica genocide anniversary

Bosnia is marking the thirtieth anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide committed by Bosnian Serb forces, which is the deadliest mass killing in Europe since the Second World War. People have gathered at the Srebrenica memorial center in the eastern Bosnian town to commemorate the genocide. In July 1995, more than 8,000 Muslims were executed and buried in mass graves after Bosnian Serb fighters overran Srebrenica during the final months of the inter-ethnic war in the Balkan country. Around 1,000 people also remain missing. The Srebrenica genocide is compared to the current genocide unfolding against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday that if the world had truly learned from Srebrenica, we would not be seeing another genocide against Muslims in Gaza.
