Genocide in Gaza
Gaza is still the scene of deadly attacks as the Israeli military presses ahead with its genocidal onslaught on the blockaded territory. In one of the deadliest attacks, at least 10 people were killed after Israeli warplanes struck a Palestinian home in al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza city. Several people were also injured in the strike. Another strike happened in the northern city of Jabalia al-Nazla with three Palestinians killed and a number of others injured. In the southern city of Rafah, an Israeli air raid targeting two homes left at least nine people dead. In Khan Yunis, also in southern Gaza, an airstrike targeting the al-Mawasi refugee camp killed several Palestinians. The Gaza health ministry says the Israeli genocide, which began in October 2023, has so far killed more than 51,000 Palestinians and injured over 116,300 others.
Gaza 'A mass grave'
The charity organization Doctors Without Borders says Gaza has become a mass grave for Palestinians and those assisting them due to the Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid and ongoing attacks on the territory. The medical aid agency warned that Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has led to widespread destruction and the forced displacement of an entire population. MSF urged Israel to immediately lift the “inhumane and deadly siege” on Gaza, while stressing the need to protect civilians and humanitarian personnel. The aid agency also called on the regime to restore and sustain a ceasefire in the besieged territory. Meanwhile, Israel’s minister of military affairs has described the Gaza siege as the regime's policy and a tool of pressure against Hamas. Israel Katz vowed that the regime will continue preventing the flow of much-needed supplies to the besieged territory.
Trump's trade war
China says US-imposed tariffs will not disrupt the long-term trajectory of the country's economic growth. Speaking at a press conference, Sheng Laiyun, China's Deputy Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics, called US tariffs "trade bullying" and a violation of the principles of the World Trade Organization. Sheng also announced Beijing's plans for proactive measures to bolster growth, mentioning a "rich policy toolkit" to support the country’s economy. This comes amid US president’s pressure on Beijing to make a new trade deal with Washington. China has signaled its willingness to negotiate, but it has also vowed to stand firm in protecting its interests.
