US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Dozens of Palestinian civilians have fallen victim to Israel’s latest air and artillery strikes on Gaza, as the regime’s genocidal war rages on unabated. One of the latest attacks targeted a building in Gaza’s Al-Mamadani Hospital, causing a big fire in the building and forcing patients and medical workers to flee. There are no reports of possible casualties yet. Earlier, a strike on a home in the southern city of Khan Yunis killed three people. Three Palestinians lost their lives in an attack on a school shelter for displaced people in northern Gaza. Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire killed two civilians in separate attacks on Gaza City’s Electricity Company and the Shuja'iyya neighborhood. The death toll from the Israeli genocide is approaching 51,000, with over 116,400 others injured. On Saturday, the regime completed the takeover of a new corridor in southern Gaza, between the cities of Rafah and Khan Yunis, turning the entire area into part of its security zone.

Gaza humanitarian crisis

The United Nations has issued a grave warning about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, amid Israel’s total ban on aid entry into the besieged territory. The UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Gaza says more than 60-thousand children under the age of five are suffering from malnutrition. The official noted that the flow of aid into Gaza has stopped since mid-March, as Israel has not permitted entry since that time. The UN official added that humanitarian workers are facing severe shortages of equipment, while fuel supplies required to run Gaza’s hospitals have been completely depleted. The remarks echoed an earlier warning by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. UNRWA said all essential supplies in Gaza are nearly depleted, and even infants are going to bed hungry. It said six weeks of total blockade by Israel had caused Gaza's food stocks to become nearly exhausted. UNRWA called for immediate international action to prevent further worsening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Iran-US indirect talks

Iran and the US have concluded the first round of indirect talks in Muscat on Tehran's nuclear program and sanctions removal. Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi mediated the talks between delegations led by Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy for West Asia, Steve Witkoff. In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the 2.5-hour discussions took place in a constructive atmosphere marked by mutual respect. The Ministry added that the talks will continue next week. The White House has also said the negotiations were very positive and constructive, adding that the two sides agreed to hold more discussions next week. It said the talks were a step forward in achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.
