Hundreds rally in Vienna to demand new election, accuse govt. of 'deception'

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Austrian Parliament on Saturday to demand a new election, accusing the government of deception and criticizing the formation of a three-party coalition.

Footage shows demonstrators holding Austrian flags and placards reading 'Stop the madness' and 'New election now.'

Protest organizer Martin Rutter stated, “We were deceived during the elections. It was said that the budget looks good—that’s not true.

Protesters expressed frustration over the coalition negotiations, with one calling them a 'sham' and 'alibi negotiations.'

The rally comes after the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), which won 28.8 per cent of the vote in September’s legislative election, failed to form a coalition with the Austrian People’s Party (OVP).
