Ramadan in Palestine

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are struggling to return to normal life even after weeks of the establishment of a ceasefire there. Muslims’ fasting month of Ramadan is approaching and Palestinians are still facing the consequences of Israel’s onslaught on their land.

Pro-Palestine protest

A mass rally has been held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in solidarity with Gaza, with protesters rejecting the US plan to displace Palestinians and take over the coastal territory. Protesters waved Palestinian and Jordanian flags to show their solidarity with Gaza. They chanted slogans such as “No to an alternative homeland” and “no to displacement”. The protest comes as the US president, Donald Trump, has called for Egypt and Jordan to take in displaced Palestinians from Gaza. Both countries have rejected the proposal.

Trump as 'mediator'

US President Donald Trump and his Vice President have lashed out at Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky openly in the White House. After the verbal clash in the Oval Office, Zelensky left the White House without a deal for the US to gain access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals. The last 10 minutes of the nearly 45-minute engagement turned into a tense back and forth between Trump and his vice president on one side and their Ukrainian guest on the other. The dramatic public breakdown comes after the long tense relationship between Zelensky and Trump. Trump has alarmed Kiev and European allies with his U-turn in US policy towards Russia. Trump has ended Washington's full support for Ukraine's attempt to defeat Russia. He cast himself as a mediator between Moscow and Kiev.
