The Hamas resistance movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have condemned in the strongest terms the incursion into the Tulkarm refugee camp in the occupied West Bank by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and minister of military affairs Israel Katz.

Hamas said Netanyahu’s visit to the camp was intended to cover up his repeated failures and retreat in the face of steadfast Palestinian people.

The Gaza-based group emphasized that the Israeli prime minister is accustomed to “such transparent theatrics,” noting his previous threats in the Gaza Strip’s Netzarim and Philadelphi corridors, which he eventually abandoned.

For its part, the OIC described Netanyahu and Katz’s incursion into the Tulkarm camp as an extension of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian nation.

It warned of the danger of the ongoing aggression against northern West Bank refugee camps, stating that the offensives are part of attempts to liquidate the refugee issue, their existence and their right to return, through the demolition of homes and their forced displacement, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The organization renewed its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities, intervene urgently to stop these ongoing Israeli violations and crimes, and hold those responsible accountable.

Foreign Ministry condemns Netanyahu, Katz incursion into Tulkarm camp

Additionally, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Friday condemned the incursion into the Tulkarm refugee camp by Netanyahu and Katz.

The ministry stated that the two Israeli officials stormed the camp at a time when the occupation forces continue to forcibly displace over 40,000 Palestinians from the refugee camps in the northern West Bank under flimsy pretexts.

It slammed the storming of the refugee camp as a manifestation of the occupying Israeli regime’s persistence not only with aggression against Palestinian people, but also with extrajudicial killings, home demolitions, and forced displacement of Palestinians.

The Palestinian foreign ministry noted that Israel’s policy of employing military tactics exacerbates tensions, and could lead to another conflagration in the region.

It reiterated that there are no alternatives to political solutions that are based on the United Nations resolutions, international law, and the so-called Arab Peace Initiative.

The 2002 Arab Peace Initiative conditions normalizing ties with Israel on the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.

Netanyahu entered a Palestinian home in the Tulkarm refugee camp earlier on Friday, hours after Katz did the same.

Israeli public broadcaster KAN shared a picture of Netanyahu inside the home alongside military officers.

The Israeli prime minister also announced the launch of a new military campaign in the West Bank.

“We are destroying entire streets, eliminating fighters, and I have instructed reinforcements in the West Bank along with additional military offensives,” Netanyahu said in a recorded statement from Tulkarm, released by his office.

He added that the military onslaught aims to dismantle the infrastructure of Palestinian armed factions.
