Dismissing US 'foolish plans'
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has described the US plans for Gaza as foolish, noting that those who underestimated the resistance are now negotiating for the release of their captives. Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with the Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Ziad al-Nakhala in Tehran. The Leader congratulated Gaza's resistance for the recent victories, stressing the importance of unity among Palestinian leaders. Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted a global shift in public opinion in favor of Palestine, stating that no plan can succeed without the consent of the resistance. For his part, Ziad al-Nakhala expressed gratitude for Iran's support. He emphasized that Palestinian resistance has achieved significant victories against the West, attributing them to the unity among Palestinian and Lebanese groups. Al-Nakhala also reaffirmed commitment to the path of resistance.
Gaza humanitarian crisis
Staying with Gaza and its devastation caused by the genocidal war on the territory; a British charity named Islamic Relief has highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the besieged strip. The charity has noted that hundreds of thousands remain homeless, with many still searching for loved ones beneath the rubble of their homes, schools, and medical facilities bombed by Israel. Unexploded ordnance has tragically killed children as they play or walk home. The charity describes the destruction as unprecedented, with entire neighborhoods and public services obliterated, livelihoods shattered, and widespread grief. Israel’s attacks have systematically targeted Gaza’s infrastructure and social fabric in a deliberate campaign to render the region unlivable. While aid has surged since the truce, Islamic Relief notes that it "remains a drop in the ocean" compared to the overwhelming needs. The charity calls for the ceasefire to be maintained and urges an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine for lasting peace.
'US taking advantage of UN'
Iran’s UN ambassador says some permanent members of the Security Council use the UN body as a leverage to further their own political interests, referring to US veto power as an example in this regard. Amir Saeid Iravani said the US has repeatedly used its veto power to protect Israel from facing accountability for systematic violation of International law and UN charter, including its genocide in Gaza. Iravani added that the US and its allies, instead, impose unilateral coercive measures against other nations including the Iranian nation. He noted that the UN Security Council should take its responsibility to resolve conflicts based on multilateral cooperation. Iravani was speaking on Tuesday at a UNSC meeting titled “Practicing Multilateralism, Reforming and Improving Global Governance.”
