A top commander of the Iranian Army has said the Armed Forces are committed to developing defense capabilities in keeping with emerging threats against the country.

Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, head of the Strategic Studies Center of Iran’s Army, emphasized the importance of innovation in the defense industry.

“We must leverage academic research to advance our defense capabilities,” he said on Saturday.

Pourdastan addressed the evolving nature of warfare and the threats facing Iran, saying that global arrogance has waged a hybrid war by simultaneously employing all its components of power to defeat the “target country.”

Pourdastan pointed to US President Donald Trump’s threats against Iran and emphasized, “Trump and his associates seek to incite war, and we must confront the threats posed by the enemy.”

He added that the Iranian Army is not merely a military force; rather, it can play a role in the fields of construction and aid and service provision.
