Condemning Trump remarks
US President Donald Trump’s remarks about expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, have drawn strong reactions from the blockaded territory’s resistance groups. Hamas strongly condemned Trump's remarks as racist, and an attempt to eliminate the Palestinian cause. Hamas said the people of Gaza have thwarted displacement plans under Israeli bombardment for more than 15 months and will not accept any schemes to uproot them from their homeland. The movement said Trump’s plan is a recipe for chaos in the region and the people of Gaza will not let it succeed. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also rejected Trump's plan, saying 15 months of insane Israeli bombing with American weapons failed to displace the people of Gaza. It added that Palestinians always have the option of resistance, which they have been practicing for more than 100 years. The reactions came after Trump suggested permanent displacement of Palestinians from Gaza ahead of his meeting with the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said the people of Gaza have no alternative but to leave the territory, which has been devastated by Israel's military aggression.
Israel West Bank aggression
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees and local officials in the occupied West Bank have released a harrowing report on the aftermath of Israel’s violent aggression against the territory. The report says nearly 5,500 families have been displaced in two West Bank refugee camps of Jenin and Tulkarm since December last year. The report said violence has severely restricted the movement of goods into the camps. It added that Palestinians are facing shortage of water, electricity, communication and lack of essential supplies, such as milk for children and medicine. According to the report, Israeli bombing of residential homes continues, along with destruction and bulldozing of infrastructure. The Palestinian Prisoners' Society says over 380 Palestinians have been detained in the occupied territory since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza entered into force. The Palestinian health ministry says 70 people have been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank this year, 38 of them in Jenin. That brings to nearly nine-hundred, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers since October 2023.
'Hezbollah remains strong'
Iran’s foreign minister says the Hezbollah resistance movement has remained strong and influential in Lebanon despite Israel’s aggression and heinous crimes. Abbas Araghchi was speaking in a meeting with UN special coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert. He hailed the recent election of Lebanon's new president, expressing hope that it would bolster the national unity in the country. Araghchi also reiterated Iran's firm support for Lebanon's government, people, and resistance. He condemned Israel’s repeated breaches of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, urging the UN to stop the regime’s aggression and violations. Araghchi said Israel must immediately withdraw its forces from Lebanese regions it has occupied. For her part, the UN official expressed hope that the ceasefire would continue to hold and help restore sustainable security to the country.
