US-Israeli Gaza genocide

It is day 462 of the US-Israeli Gaza genocide, as the regime in Tel Aviv continues to pound the blockaded territory with more deadly attacks. Many civilians were killed, and several others injured after Israeli airstrikes targeted two locations in Gaza. Another deadly air raid on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed a father and his three children. The regime’s shelling also caused casualties in the al-Maghazi refugee camp, leaving several people dead and injured. Israel's genocidal campaign in Gaza is taking its toll on Gaza kids as well, with the UN children’s agency saying more than 70 kids have been killed in the first week of 2025. UNICEF added that over a million children live in makeshift tents unable to withstand low temperatures. Over 46,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli genocide since October 2023, which has left more than 109,300 others injured.

Hunger crisis in Gaza

The United Nations humanitarian office has warned that the hunger crisis is worsening in Gaza due to severe shortages of supplies and Israel's strict ban on aid delivery. The UN office said supply stocks of all humanitarian organizations in Gaza were finished by Sunday, as the occupying regime blocks requests to allow food aid to enter the blockaded territory. OCHA noted that about 120,000 metric tons of food aid remain stuck outside Gaza, which can feed its people for three months. The office also warned that the shortage of fuel needed to operate generators is crippling Gaza’s already devastated health system. Meanwhile, the World Food Program reported that only five of its 20 bakeries remain operational, and all of them are located in Gaza City. Israel has consistently rejected all efforts by the UN and other humanitarian organizations to gain access to northern Gaza, which has been under the regime’s total siege for about one-hundred days.

US sanctions ICC

In a sign of clear support for Israel’s crimes in Gaza, the US House of Representatives has voted to sanction the International Criminal Court. The move was made over arrest warrants issued for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former minister of military affairs. The new legislation seeks to sanction any foreigner who investigates, arrests, detains or prosecutes US citizens or those of its allies, including Israel, that are not members of the court. The House’s Foreign Affairs Committee chairman said the legislation conveys a clear message of non-recognition of the ICC's authority. In addition, ICC officials will be barred from obtaining US visas, and those currently residing in the US will be subject to deportation. The court has accused Netanyahu and his former minister of military affairs of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the regime’s onslaught on Gaza. The ICC has asserted that its decision to pursue warrants against Israeli officials is in line with its approach in all cases.
