Gaza hospitals under attack

A new report released by the UN Human Rights Office says Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on hospitals in Gaza have had a catastrophic effect on the territory’s healthcare system. The spokesman for the human rights office says the regime has used heavy bombs to attack civilians taking shelter in hospitals. Laurence added that the UN office has also verified the precision targeting of people inside hospitals, including healthcare workers. He stressed that deliberate attacks on places where the sick and wounded are treated are a war crime. Laurence said the Israeli regime’s pattern of deadly attacks on Gaza hospitals has pushed the healthcare system to the brink of total collapse. His remarks came after UN human rights chief, Volker Turk, said earlier that Gaza's hospitals have become a death trap. He also urged independent and credible investigations into hospital-related incidents in Gaza.

Palestinian prisoners plight

2024 has been the deadliest as well as the most devastating and tragic year for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. That’s according to a report by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs. The report cited a surge in deaths and escalating violence against detainees, including systematic torture, starvation, medical neglect and overcrowding in prisons. According to the report, investigations into the deaths of most West Bank detainees clearly show that their deaths were caused by either torture, deliberate medical neglect, or a combination of both. It said the abuse inflicted on Gaza detainees is even more intense, brutal and violent. The report noted that the number of Palestinians who have died in Israeli jails since the onset of the Gaza genocide has reached 54, 35 of whom were from Gaza. Israel has detained at least 25,000 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, al-Quds, and Gaza since October 2023.

US aggression against Yemen

A member of Yemen's Supreme Political Council has condemned US aggression against the country as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of an independent state. Mohammed Ali al-Houthi called US strikes part of a dirty mission that is aimed at encouraging Israel to continue its genocide against the people of Gaza. He said Washington is trying to impose the rule of jungle on the region, instead of the rule of law, only to support the Israeli regime. al-Houthi stressed that Yemen will continue to confront the US aggression and support Gaza. Another Yemeni official also reacted to US aggression. Mohammad Abdel Salam said those who seek security and stability of the region must restrain Israel, instead of providing it with more time, weapons, and political cover. His remarks came after the US army confirmed in an earlier statement that its Navy ships and aircraft had conducted fresh attacks on multiple locations across Yemen. At least twelve airstrikes hit the capital Sana’a and other areas along the coast, with no reported casualties.
