Western Cape officials said missing persons are feared dead after a devastating storm swept across the South African province on Monday, causing extensive damage and flooding.
Western Cape media liaison officer, Regan Thaw, told Reuters the storm's impact on the province's informal housing would be vast.
The local government has referred to the storm as a "disaster," suggesting that the full extent of the damage will only become apparent once the storm has subsided.
The South African Weather Services has issued a "Orange level 9" warning, indicating the possibility of further flooding as the weather system moves east across South Africa.
