Releasing Iran's frozen assets

The Iranian Foreign Ministry says the process to unblock the nation’s several billion dollar assets illegally frozen by the United States in South Korea has kicked off.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says Tehran has received a guarantee for Washington’s commitment to its obligations. According to the Iranian official, the release of several Iranians who were illegally detained in the United States under the pretext of bypassing US sanctions also comes in this context.

Several Iranian-Americans convicted in Iran on spying charges are also expected to be released once the US implements its commitments.

The Iranian officials have already announced that Tehran is open to prisoner exchange talks with the US out of respect for humanitarian issues.
