Reza Pahlavi visits occupied Palestine after 'anti-Iran campaign' fails

Wearing a yarmulke, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s deposed Shah, visits the al-Buraq Wall (the Western Wall), in al-Quds, on April 18, 2023.

Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s deposed Shah, has traveled to the occupied Palestinian territories after his efforts to form a united anti-Iran front reached a dead end.

Pahlavi was welcomed by Israeli intelligence minister Gila Gamliel at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport on Monday.

He said in a tweet that the visit will focus on Israeli water technology and Holocaust commemoration.

The trip comes as the occupying regime is grappling with one of its worst domestic crises, with ongoing mass protests against the judicial overhaul plans of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition.

Some reports have described the visit as a humiliation for anti-Iran figures as it coincides with a total failure of Pahlavi’s attempts to establish a coordinated front against the Islamic Republic.

Asked about Pahlavi’s trip, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani said on Monday, “Neither the person you have mentioned nor his trip and the place where he is traveling to are worthy of comment.”

Pahlavi, an unpopular figure who has been living in exile since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, stepped up his anti-Iran activities in the wake of foreign-backed riots in Iran. He joined hands with terrorists and separatists operating against Iran, urging the West to give active support to the acts of vandalism inside the country.

The deadly riots broke out following the death of young Iranian woman Mahsa Amini. She collapsed in a police station in last September and died three days later in a hospital in Tehran. A thorough probe later found out that his unfortunate death was the result of an illness, not alleged beatings by the police.

In the meantime, large numbers of Iranian civilians and security forces were killed in the riots.

Iranian security forces and intelligence agents, since the onset of the unrest, made round-the-clock efforts to identify the elements involved in the deadly riots and bring them to justice.
