Tensions in occupied territories
An attack in Tel Aviv has left at least one killed and several others wounded as tensions are rising in the occupied territories.
Azerbaijan-Iran row
Tehran says it is contemplating reciprocal diplomatic action after the Azerbaijan Republic expelled four Iranian diplomats. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman said the move goes against the principle of good neighborliness. Naser Kan’ani further called on Baku to avoid acting on what he called the wishes of Israel and other regional enemies. Azerbaijan's foreign ministry announced the expulsion of the Iranian embassy staff on Thursday. Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran have grown strained in recent months. The tensions further deepened after the Israeli foreign minister claimed he had agreed with his Azerbaijani counterpart to "form a united front against Iran". Tehran has blasted Baku’s silence over the comments.
War on Yemen
Saudi and Omani officials are reportedly planning to hold ceasefire talks with Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement in Sana’a next week, with an end to an eight-year-old aggression looming. The visit marks a progress in Oman-mediated talks. Sources told Reuters the talks will focus on a full reopening of Yemen's ports and airports, and a political transition. If reached, the agreement could be announced before Islam's Eid al-Fitr holiday starting April 20. The chief negotiator of Ansarullah has said talks are underway to end the Saudi aggression and siege, expressing hope the efforts will yield a peace pact that meet the Yemenis’ demands. That comes as the Saudi-led coalition, which has been waging war on Yemen since 2015, lifted more restrictions on imports heading to the country. Commercial ships are now allowed to dock directly in the southern ports.
