Tunisia political tensions

Tunisia’s president pushing the limits of his power, with an order for creating a temporary council that will oversee the judiciary. Kais Saeed’s decree gives him almost exclusive power over the justice system, after he dissolved the independent Supreme Judicial Council last week. This includes the power to object to the promotion and nomination of judges, and to propose judicial reforms. The judiciary was the last branch of power out of Said’s control since he dissolved the government and the parliament last year. His opponents say this is a coup. The main opposition party has called a protest later on Sunday.
