Israeli settler pepper-sprays four young Palestinian girls in Jerusalem al-Quds

Four female Palestinian minors have been injured in the face when they were pepper-sprayed by an Israeli settler in the occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.

The official Wafa news agency reported on Monday that the incident took place during an event on arts in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which has been in the spotlight lately.

The girls, between 12 and 14 years of age, sustained deep burns.

Israeli police took no action against the settler.

Human rights groups have repeatedly said incidents of sabotage and violence by Israeli settlers against the Palestinians and their property occur almost on a daily basis in the occupied West Bank.

There have been incidents similar in kind to a hit-and-run situation where Palestinians have been targeted in the West Bank.

The Israeli settlers aggressive toward the Palestinians often go unpunished by the regime. They are even emboldened by the military to keep up the offensive attitude.

Anti-settlement groups believe assaults by the settlers are not isolated incidents. They say this sort of violence is part of a wider, sophisticated strategy designed to assert territorial domination over the occupied territories.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates says the international community should act and put travel ban on the Israeli settlers involved in acts of violence against the Palestinian population.

More than 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements built since the 1967 occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.

The UN Security Council has only condemned Israel’s settlement activities in several ineffective resolutions.

In Sheikh Jarrah, dozens of Palestinian families face the imminent risk of expulsion from their homes forced by Israel.
