Palestinian reaction to new Israeli govt.

Palestinian officials have reacted to the election of Naftali Bennett as the new Israeli prime minister, emphasizing that the change will not affect their stance toward Israel. Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, said regardless of the shape and color of the new administration, Israel remains a colonial and occupation entity. Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said Palestinians will resist by force to get their rights back. A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also emphasized that the changes will not alter Palestine’s position, which has always been a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital. The reactions came after the Israeli parliament voted in favor of a new coalition cabinet, ending Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year tenure as prime minister. Now, right-wing Naftali Bennett will lead the new cabinet for two years before his centrist ally, Yair Lapid, takes over.

Attack on US base in Iraq

A US military base in the Iraqi capital has reportedly been targeted by an unmanned aerial vehicle early Monday. A security source said the drone hit Camp Victory hosting American troops at Baghdad International Airport, but caused no casualties. It said the target of the attack was the runways of military cargo aircraft. There was no claim of responsibility, but Camp Victory has come under similar attacks in the past. The US military, logistics and diplomatic buildings have been increasingly targeted in recent months in Iraq, amid growing anti-US sentiment there.

Iran naval achievements

Iran has unveiled a new domestically-made destroyer and a new minesweeper in the southern port of Bandar Abbas. The destroyer, named Dena, is the latest in Moudge-class frigates and is fitted with high-tech defensive and offensive systems. It is capable of sailing long distances in open waters. The warship has a flight deck for helicopters, and can detect, counter, or destroy aerial and marine threats. Iran also inducted the Shahin Mine Countermeasures Vessel into the navy. The fully indigenous vessel uses cutting-edge technology to detect and neutralize sea mines. President Hassan Rouhani, who participated in the unveiling ceremony through a video conference, hailed the achievement that came in the face of international pressure.
