Iran nuclear deal

An informed source has told Press TV that the United States has no option but to remove all anti-Iran sanctions. The source says that is the only way forward to persuade Tehran to halt the roll-back of its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal.

Warning Saudi Arabia

Yemen’s defense minister warns Saudi Arabia against pushing ahead with its aggression against his country, saying Sana’a is capable of hitting many targets deep inside the kingdom. Mohammed Nasser al-Atifi said Yemen has been expanding its military capacities for launching retaliatory attacks. He said Yemen’s growing military power cannot be compared with six years ago when the Saudi-led coalition started an onslaught on the impoverished country. Riyadh launched the war in an attempt to reinstate the Saudi-allied former regime. The military campaign, coupled with an all-out blockade, has devastated most of Yemen’s infrastructure and led to a massive humanitarian crisis.

Algerians anger

Thousands of anti-government protesters have taken to the streets in Algeria to support the Hirak pro-Democracy movement. Demonstrations were held in the capital Algiers and several other cities across the country. Protesters called for an independent judiciary amid detention of dozens of anti-government opponents. The Hirak protest movement helped force long-time Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to step down in 2019. His successor, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, pledged to reform the country’s power structure. However, protesters believe that the new administration has failed to fulfill its promise. The Hirak movement demands a new political system that reflects the will of Algerian people.
