The US homes of Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Republican Mitch McConnell have been vandalized as the Congress struggles to to send stimulus checks to Americans on the last days of the Trump administration.

"Where's my money?” read one graffiti massage on the front door of Senator McConnell’s home on Saturday as the nation continued suffering from the economic repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic and a support bill was stalling in Congress.

"I’ve spent my career fighting for the First Amendment and defending peaceful protest," McConnell said in the prepared statement. "I appreciate every Kentuckian who has engaged in the democratic process whether they agree with me or not."

Late last year, the Democratic-held House passed a bill to increase stimulus checks from $600 to $2,000, yet the bill was blocked for the fourth straight day in the Republican-controlled Senate on Friday.

"This is different. Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in our society," the GOP senator added. "My wife and I have never been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We just hope our neighbors in Louisville aren’t too inconvenienced by this radical tantrum.”

Both chambers of Congress united recently to override President Donald Trump's veto of the defense bill, handing him the first veto defeat of his presidency weeks before leaving office.

Pelosi's home in San Francisco was similarly targeted with a spray-painted message that read, "$2K," "Cancel rent!" and "We want everything!" On Friday.
