An American political analyst has suggested that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden should call for US President Donald Trump to be indicted for killing over 200,000 Americans for his mishandling of the Covid-19 crisis.
Myles Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Monday after Biden compared Trump to Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.
The former vice president made the comparison in an interview with MSNBC over Trump's announcement that he is a socialist to win the favor of undecided voters in swing states such as Florida.
“I’m not sure anybody hasn’t already made up their mind they’re for Trump. But who knows. He’s sort of like Goebbels. You say the lie long enough, keep repeating it, repeating it, repeating it, it becomes common knowledge,” Biden said. “The other week I was too moderate, as you remember. I was too tough. And now the American people, I think they know who I am. They know my heart. They know my story, my family story. Trump is using socialism to scare and distract Floridians from a failed pandemic."
Hoenig said, “Biden is now coming out of his (or their?) self-imposed shell and being more forthcoming in his attacks on Trump. He has yet to call for Trump to be indicted for killing over 200,000 Americans but he is now comparing Trump to the Nazi regime, in particular Joseph Goebbels with his propaganda. And Biden is correct in this comparison. One of the main strategies of Goebbels was the Big Lie, which targeted the Jewish population for causing all of Germany’s ills. Trump is using that very effectively for his base on issues of voter fraud, building the wall, crime and punishment, and anything else that appears liberal or progressive as Socialist.”
“Ironic, though, that Biden is talking Goebbels when he was a leader in the run-up to the Iraqi War which was based on many Big Lies: WMDs being the big one, the incubator incident, Hussein involved in 9-11, etc,” he added.
“But in politics you go with what you have or what’s offered to you, especially if you know that in the end one’s hypocrisy will make no difference. And that is the makeup of both parties- hypocrisy, and with a straight face. We see that with the choice of the nomination of a new Supreme Court justice, but with a cynical argument to justify it- both parties control the mechanisms, unlike with Obama. We see it in the mail-in ballot fraud issues when it is Trump who actually mailed his own ballot. And of course with the Democrats we see Biden and Harris trying to come off as being for the people and that has rarely been the case in their legislative histories,” he added.
“Biden is right to bring up Nazism. But it cuts both ways,” he concluded.
