Tehran hosted an international meeting of monotheistic religions. During the one-day event, religious leaders and scholars from across the globe condemned the insulting act of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo to the Prophet of Islam.
They also criticized the inert stance of the United Nations in the face of the insulting act of the French weekly and condemned the supportive stance of French President Emmanuel Macron for the insulting act.
Speaking to Press TV, the participants also touched upon the importance of dialogue among religions and the importance of sustaining that dialogue in these difficult times.
The participant delegates also said condemning the publication of sacrilegious cartoons is not enough and that the responsibility of such incidents lies with the governments that have prepared the ground for desecration of religious sanctities in the name of freedom of expression.
Muslim communities all over the world have staged huge rallies to protest the latest desecration of Prophet Muhammad by the Charlie Hebdo, which recently published insulting caricatures in a new impudence.
