This episode is Dr. Abdul El-Sayed’s speech at the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America 18th Annual Convention in Chicago in December 2019. Every person possesses a passion or something unique that makes them special.

Discovering what makes you special can help with finding your career path, creating a passion project or a healthy hobby. However, many people struggle with figuring out what that is for them, specifically. Thankfully, there are certain steps that can be taken to help you navigate through this journey. El-Sayed emphasises that “We need to think about the challenges that our community are facing .

We as parents should not think that our children should be a doctor or engineer, otherwise they will be losers. We need to ask where are the future historians who are going to tell our history? Where are the journalists who are going to cover our issues, where are the public leaders who are going to stand up and demonstrate that Muslims are part of this society can give in ways that are so critical.

There are people with talents that are going unnoticed and unengaged a part of that is beacuse we as a community have been unwilling to invest in our young people in a way that those young people wanted to be invested.”
