Libyan eastern-based warlord Khalifa Haftar recently declared himself the ruler of the North African country claiming he had a popular mandate to govern.

Last April, Libyan renegade commander Khalifa Haftar declared himself the ruler of Libya claiming he had "a popular mandate" to govern the country. The foreign-backed warlord vowed to move on with his assault to seize the capital, Tripoli. In this Edition we shall also analyze the postponement of Ethiopia’s elections due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last March Ethiopia postponed parliamentary elections scheduled for August due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Ethiopia Elections Board suspended preparations for the vote due to public health risk, and on April 10, parliament approved a five-month state of emergency, giving authorities sweeping powers to battle COVID-19.
