The Great March of Return committee organized a conference on Thursday to mark the 72nd anniversary of Nakba Day when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly evicted from their homeland.

The conference was held in the so-called buffer zone near the separation fence in the east of the Gaza Strip while taking certain precautions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers said the event was aimed at drawing attention to Palestinians’ plights and highlighting the importance of the Palestinian cause and their right of return to their homeland.

The conference also marked two years since the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds and Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of Israel.

Dozens of Palestinians lost their lives during protests against the US moves. Palestinians say those decisions violated Palestinians’ rights, including their right of return.

Palestinian resistance groups also highlighted their commitment to their homeland and their right of return, saying that resistance is the only means to free Palestine from the Israeli occupation.

The Palestinian nation considers the day the worst in the Palestinians’ cause history. Seventy-two years have passed since the Israeli regime forced the Palestinians out of their homeland. Palestinians say they will never forget their right of return to their homeland and [the] Israeli regime should understand this.
