Two million Afghans lose jobs as COVID-19 pandemic, political crisis continue

As official figures show, nearly 2 million Afghans have lost their jobs because of coronavirus outbreak since the pandemic emerged in the country over 2 months ago.

The pandemic is not the only cause of sharp increase in the number of jobless people,as political tensions plus insecurity are considered as other sources. 

Officials in Kabul confirm that the spread of the coronavirus in Afghanistan has seriously affected private sector, but it has not resulted in loss of job among government employees.

In the meantime, airlines, industries, as well as tourism and sports activities have been affected by the spread of the coronavirus in Afghanistan. 

As the public health ministry confirms, nearly 2500 individuals have been infected with the COVID-19 so far. The numbers are increasing day by day; therefore, the government has stepped up its attempts to at least reduce the number of infection cases.
