UEFA has presented an update on how to restart the leagues in June across Europe.
After meeting with all 55 European national members by video conference on Tuesday, the European football governing body said in a statement that there was a strong recommendation, given to restart domestic top division, and cup competitions in June, but added that in special cases, some leagues could be canceled, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
UEFA has to work out the qualification process for its 2020-21 competitions, which might overlap with the end of the 2019-20 season. Based on the UEFA decision, the current plan is to play the 2020-21 season as normal, including two-legged ties, but with the usual dates already put back, which may be impossible to implement.
