Cruel US sanctions
The coronavirus and its aftermath has become the latest battlefield between Iran and the US. Washington is trying to use the crisis to exert more pressure on Tehran.
Iran has submitted a request for a $ 5 billion emergency loan, which it needs to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
Tehran has required that the loan be provided under the International Monetary Funds Rapid Financing Instrument, a mechanism which is available to all member states facing an urgent balance of payments need. This would be Irans first loan since 1962.
