To the UEFA Champions League, the defending champions Liverpool have suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the 2nd leg of their last-16 tie at Anfield.
Liverpool started the game strong and took the lead in the 43rd minute when Georginio Wijnaldum headed the ball home from inside the penalty area to take the game to extra time.
The hosts kept the pressure on Atletico in the extra time and doubled their lead in the 94th minute, after Roberto Firmino tapped the ball into an empty net.

Marcus Lorente then scored Atletico’s first goal in the 97th minute with a curling shot to give the visitors the advantage over an away goal. Lorente, then, scored his second of the night, with another beautiful shot to make it 2-2.
That was not the end of drama as Alvaro Morata gave Atletico a 3-2 lead on the night with a composed finish from inside the box. With the result, Atletico Madrid defeated Liverpool 4-2 on aggregate to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Meanwhile, France champions, Paris Saint-German booked their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, after beating German club, Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the 2nd leg of their last-16 clash at Parc de Princes.
PSG started the game on the front-foot,, and took the lead in the 28th minute through Neymar’s diving-header from the inside of the box. The hosts maintained the pressure on Borussia Dortmund and doubled their advantage, just before the break, thanks to Juan Bernat, who flicked Sarabia’s attempt past Dortmund goalkeeper.
Dortmund piled on the pressure in the second half, but PSG held on to secure their place in the next round of the competition with a 3-2 victory on aggregate.
