Palestinians have slammed as seriously dangerous the Israeli decision to build an Israeli-only road that would separate Palestinian communities from Israeli settlement Ma’ale Adumim northeast of Jerusalem al-Quds.
Israeli minister of military affairs Naftali Bennet revealed what he called as the sovereignty road, is meant to connect Jerusalem al-Quds and the Ma’ale Adumim settlement. He added the project will improve the quality of life of the Israeli residents of the area and prevent friction with the Palestinian population.
Israeli authorities have been so long seeking to expel tens of thousands of Palestinians from the Bedouin communities living in E1 zone, which sits on roughly 15 square kilometers of land northeast of Jerusalem al-Qud. For years, the Israeli regime has tried to dismantle the Bedouin communities to make way for its massive E1 settlement project in East Jerusalem.
The planned Israeli building in E1 would effectively cut the West Bank in half and prevent the territorial contiguity of a future Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.
Two weeks ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revived the controversial settlement plan, known as E-1. Netanyahu said his regime will build 3,500 settler homes.
Palestinians warn that Tel Aviv has already started applying Israeli sovereignty.
This Israeli-only road is a first step in building settlements in the controversial E-1 zone that Palestinians say, would in effect cut the West Bank in half.
