Thousands of revelers packed the foreshores of the Sydney Harbor in Australia to celebrate the end of 2019 with Sydney's usual magnificent firework display.
After an extremely hot day during which fires raged across New South Wales, with whole towns destroyed and several people killed, there were many who questioned whether the fireworks should go ahead.
A late Southerly wind change came through dropping temperatures and bringing strong gusts.
The fireworks were also hampered by smoke haze and dust haze.
