A Saudi center of immoderation? In May 2017 Saudi Arabia established a so-called counter-extremism centre with much fanfare.
The so-called Global Centre to Combat Extremism (GCCE) was officially inaugurated by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in the presence of US President, Donald Trump, at an ostentatious ceremony in Riyadh.
The centres founding secretary-general, Nasir Al-Biqami, described its core mission as the fruit of collaboration between Muslim countries that believe in the importance of combating terrorism. But is that so?
