Pro-remain protesters who took to the streets to demonstrate against a decision to suspend parliament on Saturday (August 31) faced off with Brexit supporters in heated exchanges.
A large group of protesters followed far-right event organizer and social media commentator Danny Tommo, real name Daniel Thomas, through the streets of London chanting 'Nazi scum.'
Thomas, who has reportedly been jailed for attempted kidnap in 2016 and has ties with jailed far-right activist Tommy Robinson, had to be escorted from the scene by a number of police officers.
Thousands of people in London and across the UK protested on Saturday against Prime Minister Boris Johnson's decision to suspend parliament for about a month before the deadline for the country to leave the European Union.
His critics say the suspension, known as a prorogation, is unusually long and describe the move as a thinly veiled attempt to reduce the time that lawmakers will have to debate before Britain leaves the EU at the end of October.
