Nairo Quintana has won the 208 kilometer stage 18 of the 2019 Tour de France, yet no huge shakeup happened at the top of the general classification.
The 29-year-old Colombian, who'd been losing time on GC over the last three weeks, got his chance to win the race after unleashing an enormous attack from 7.5 kilometers off the summit to beat his breakaway company Romain Bardet by a considerable one minute and 35 second gap, as he rode the descent alone to ease to victory.
Kazak cyclist Alexey Lutsenko finished third, while Quintana's compatriot Egan Bernal, who ended up eighth, moved up the ladder in the general classification to surpass Geraint Thomas by five seconds and sit right behind Julian Alaphilippe who still has the yellow jersey.
The Tour will continue with a mountainous 126.5 kilometer stage 19 on Friday.
