Julian Alaphilippe of France has sprinted to victory in stage 6 of the Criterium du Dauphine.
The Frenchman overtook Gregor Mühlberger of Austria in a tight finish to claim the race by a tyre's width. Alaphilippe finished the 229 kilometre ride in 6 hours and 54 seconds.
Alessandro De Marchi of Italy, who managed to stay with the leaders for most of the stage, was 22 seconds behind. That’s while, Adam Yates of Britain retained the leader’s yellow jersey after finishing 8th. The Brit is just 4 seconds ahead of Dylan Teuns and 6 ahead of Tejay van Garderen of the USA with 2 stages remaining.
