Forty years from Iran’s Islamic revolution, the media is filled with news about Iran’s impressive progress in nanotechnology, biotechnology, stem cell, space and others.

After 40 years from the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Iran has made progress in different fields.

In terms of scientific achievements, in a Times ranking of top universities, Iran ranked 17th in 2017, that’s up from 32 in 2012. By 2018, Iran had 18 top universities to boast.

In science Olympiads, Iran won 669 medals in 30 years since it first participated in 1987.

Islamic Republic of Iran, in its second step of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has decided to continue its progress in science.

With regard to STEM science graduates, Iran ranks 4th or 5th; say in nanotechnology it was registered as 5th in 2016. STEM by the way, stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Some other high rankings are in stem cell technology, biotechnology and space technology. The list is endless. In nanotechnology as a matter of fact, Iran ranks 4th now, in producing scientific articles. But the country has no intention of settling at that. Over 4300 knowledge-based companies and over 6000 startups in all, enjoyed an income of over 27 billion dollars [90 thousand billion tomans] in the year between March 2018 and 2019.

These businesses will soon replace the most lucrative businesses, and will thereby transform the very fiber of Iran’s traditional economy.
