Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
Hamilton's arch-rival Sebastian Vettel had been the favorite to take the glory under the floodlights of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, but the Ferrari driver could only post the third fastest time.
Hamilton pulled out an astonishing lap to claim the 79th pole of his career after finishing a third of a second faster than Max Verstappen.
Vettel was a distant six-tenths slower than his rival, while Valtteri Bottas finished fourth.
