The sentencing of two Reuters reporters in Myanmar to seven years in jail has drawn harsh condemnation at home and abroad. Many right groups have denounced their conviction as a blow to press freedom. Wa Lone and Kyaw SoeOo, the two journalists were probing the killing of Rohingya Muslim minority in the country when they were arrested in December. Myanmars Civilian leader Aung San SuuKyi is under pressure to give amnesty for the journalists. However, in a June interview with NHK, SuuKyi defended the prosecution, saying she trusted the judicial process.
