David Miller Speaker’s biography: David Miller is Professor of Sociology at the University of Bath. His research interests mainly revolve around the role of communication in connection to power relations. As the Director of Spinwatch David’s research has included a report ‘The Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre: Giving Peace a Chance?’ which gives insight into the public relations work of the Israel lobby. Summary: In this episode Prof. David Miller delivers an speech on Funding the Occupation focusing on four areas that funding is going from the UK charities to the infrastructure of occupation in the territories in East Jerusalem. The National Institutions, IDF (Israel Defense Forces), The Jerusalem Foundation, and Direct Funding to the Settlements. He identifies the UK charities which support the Israeli groups and specifying British Jews who give money to such charities. Community Security Trust Founder Gerald Ronson, the Bernard Lewis Foundation, and the Atkin Foundation. Professor David Miller reveals that the JNF (Jewish National Fund), the Jewish Agency, the World Zionist Organisation and the Zionist Federation are as the backbone of the transnational Zionist movement. He adds that these have a parastatal role in Israel and JNF in particular is active in stealing Palestinian land. Prof. Miller emphasises that the ambiguity of status allowed the groups to elude these charities accountability.
