The Iran women’s national under-19 volleyball team has slumped to its first defeat at the 2018 Asian Women's U19 Volleyball Championship in Vietnam, going down to the Australian squad.
On Monday, the Iranian outfit suffered a narrow defeat and ceded its second Pool C encounter of the tournament 2-3 (25-15, 25-15, 23-25, 21-25 and 12-15) to the Aussies.
The loss came a day after junior Iranian volleyball players had defeated Hong Kong 3-1 (19-25, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-18) in their opening match.
The Iran women’s national under-19 volleyball team is scheduled to face Macau in its third challenge on Tuesday.
The 2018 Asian Women's U19 Volleyball Championship opened on June 10, and will finish on June 17, 2018.
Iran is in Pool C along with Australia, Hong Kong and Macau.
Pool A consists of China, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. Chinese Taipei, India, Kazakhstan and South Korea form Pool B.
Malaysia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka are pitted against each other in Pool D.
