On May 14, at least 65 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces as they protested a US decision to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem al-Quds. More than 2,700 others were wounded during clashes in Gaza on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day.
Following the massacre, the Palestinian foreign minister held a meeting at the International Criminal Court in The Hague to urge a thorough investigation into Israeli atrocities.
The UN Human Rights Council in Geneva resolved to investigate whether Israel's response to the protests was proportionate and whether it had broken international law.
