Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Belgium’s capital of Brussels in protest against the government’s pension reform plan.

Workers' unions demonstrated on Wednesday in Brussels against the pension’s reform currently proposed by the government of Charles Michel.

Police said about 55,000 people took part in the protest, but the organizers said the crowd numbered 70,000.

The protesters marched from the morning until the early afternoon throughout the city centre of Brussels.

Under the reform plan, Belgium will raise the retirement age to 67 from the current 65 and the retiring workers will see the retirement wage reduced even further.
