Picasso, Malevich to lead Christie's spring auction

Auction house Christie's previewed its big Spring sales of paintings and sculptures in New York on Thursday (May 3), showing it to the public before the works go under the hammer later this month.

More than 750 works by renowned artists from the 20th century are up for sale, divided between "Impressionist and Modern Art" auctions and "Post-War and Contemporary Art" sales with an estimated total worth of $850 million (USD) according to the auction house.

Top lots include a portrait by Pablo Picasso titled "Le Marin," estimated to sell around $70 million.
